shadow on the chair

During the Re-Naissance workshop organized by the Ateliers de Paris, at the occasion of the Paris Design Week, I worked on the re-confection of a chair by making an embroidered seat. The idea was to transform furniture donated by the association Les Petits Frères des Pauvres.

This chair inspired me by the specific cut of its wooden back. I used embroidery to change and produce a new look of the seat. The idea was to find the pattern that the shadow cast by the backrest would make with a light placed behind it. This pattern became embroidery, it draws suspended light at a special moment when the shadow of the chair stops forever.

Workshop animated by UNQUI designers, with the collaboration of Pauline Krier, tapestry designer, and Solène Léglise, mosaist.

The sale of the transformed furniture, including this chair, was donated to the association Les Petits Frères des Pauvres
